In the largest Magento event ever held, 2,700 attendees from 50 countries met in Las Vegas for the annual Magento Imagine conference. Embracing their “Powering Tomorrow” mantra, Magento took the opportunity to announce several significant product launches and enhancements.
Magento’s flagship product, Magento Commerce Cloud, received much of the spotlight in terms of improved functionality. To name just a few enhancements, the platform received new capabilities for shipping, content management, social commerce, payments, and business intelligence to support growing omnichannel demands. Retailers will also benefit from Magento’s acquisition of BluefootCMS, which has brought elegant drag-and-drop content management features that make it easier to build rich sites.
“These additions to Magento Commerce Cloud demonstrate our commitment to providing leading capabilities to merchants as they compete in this new era of commerce”, said Jason Woosley, SVP of product and technology at Magento.
Magento also took the opportunity to announce Digital Cloud for B2B merchants, which will allow business users to quickly create simple, B2C-like experiences that drive revenue, reduce costs, and streamline processes.
Brands can now fully support corporate buyers with account management, account-specific price lists and catalogues, tools for quick ordering, quote requests, and increased visibility inventories across retail outlets.
Offering merchants the flexibility required to meet customers’ increasing expectations for fast shipping, Magento Shipping accelerates time to market, automates fulfilment processes, easily connects with couriers and reduces costs by ensuring accurate billing with advanced packing intelligence. With more than $101 billion in annual commerce generated on the Magento platform, Magento Shipping presents a great opportunity for carriers.
Magento Shipping is powered by Temando, a Magento Premier Technology Partner specialising in multi-carrier shipping software. eWave built the first ever integration between Temando and Magento, and are well placed to introduce this enhancement to our clients’ processes.
“Providing cost-effective shipping is one of the largest pain points for merchants of all sizes,” said Mark Lenhard, SVP of strategy, Magento. “In addition to gaining easy access to global carriers, merchants will streamline shipping processes and capture greater visibility into the customer journey from cart to the front door.”
